Our Research and Mission
Since 2013, Stichting Het Kan Wel! has been conducting research to find a way out of the impasse that continues to lead to destruction of the natural ecosystem, rising violence, worsening chronic diseases, poverty, inequality, and forced migration.
These are all future-defining issues that must be addressed if we want to keep our world livable for eight billion people.
Nature, society, and the economy must remain in balance as parts of a single, integrated ecosystem to ensure that our world is sustainable and livable for everyone.
Our research has led to an Integral Transition Program that is now ready for phased implementation. For this, we need the support of regional and local governments, citizens, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Integral Transition Program
Due to the complexity of these future-defining issues and the vast amount of misinformation, the average citizen and public representative lack oversight, leading to feelings of powerlessness or misguided decisions.
This complexity led Het Kan Wel! to develop multiple independent programs within the Integral Transition Program. By bringing them together into a single integrated program and aligning them with each other, implementation will gradually lead to a visible regeneration of the natural, social, and economic ecosystem.
Netherlands
Here are the six programs currently active in the Netherlands. Click on a program to learn more:
Tree of life
Tree of life is the crowdfunding program of Stichting Het Kan Wel!, which has made possible both research over the past years and the development of the Integral Transition Program.

Integral Transition Program
The Integral Transition Program is the practical implementation of Stichting Het Kan Wel!’s integrated vision. It makes visible the options for an integral transition to a sustainable natural, social, and economic ecosystem.

Economic Transition Program
Within the integral program, attention is given to new revenue models for businesses and governments, ensuring that all economic activities work in harmony with the natural and social ecosystem.

Energy Transition Program
The current policies of the national government and the European Union continue to destroy nature in order to maintain centralized energy generation, storage, and distribution.
Together with several small and medium-sized enterprises, we have identified alternative local solutions for energy production, storage, and distribution, ensuring sufficient, clean, and affordable energy for citizens, businesses, and even industries.

Social Transition Program
The Social Transition Program aims to provide opportunities for individuals who, in one way or another, have found themselves in difficult situations, helping them build a future with perspective.

Communication Transition Program
In the coming years, one of the greatest challenges will be raising awareness about how human actions continue to destroy the natural, social, and economic ecosystem.
Transition is not only the government’s responsibility. However, governments are increasingly centralizing power at the expense of both public representatives and citizens.
Everyone must realize that we need to take immediate action to regenerate the integral ecosystem if we want a future on this planet. We cannot wait until 2030 or 2050. That narrative is misleading.

International
Below is the program currently active in Togo, West Africa:
Trees in Togo
1.1 A portion of the ecosystem is being regenerated in the devastated forests of West Togo (West Africa) through the planting and protection of trees.
1.2 Students help plant the trees. The income they earn allows them to pay for school fees and educational materials.
1.3 We aim to launch an education program for young people focused on ecological regeneration, helping them understand the importance of protecting and restoring the natural ecosystem for their own future.

Research
Our research into an integral solution was based on a lateral thinking approach, guided by several fundamental questions:- Why are we unable to work together to make our world sustainable?
- What is needed for us to collectively take responsibility for a sustainable future?
- What practical steps can we take to make the natural, social, and economic ecosystem sustainable?
After eight years, an integrated program has gradually emerged to contribute to a future-proof world.
The Integral Program of Het Kan Wel! consists of multiple subprograms. Each component is based on the principle of maintaining a balanced natural, social, and economic ecosystem, as this balance is essential for ensuring a sustainable world and a peaceful society.
The ultimate goal is the Tree of life Economy.
Policy
The reason we took matters into our own hands in 2013 was that we observed that global leaders are more concerned with politics than with the common good. Meanwhile, shareholders of publicly traded companies remain focused on their portfolios.
Policymakers, administrators, and representatives often lack understanding of future-defining issues, and too many scientists are unable to conduct genuine research. Instead, they are pressured to produce reports based on economic models and expected outcomes.
Het Kan Wel!
Due to the complexity of future-defining issues and widespread misinformation, the average citizen (and even many public representatives) no longer has a clear overview—leading to feelings of powerlessness.
Het Kan Wel! conducted in-depth research to ensure that we could properly inform citizens and policymakers about the urgent need for effective action within the next eight years.
The integral program is based on collective responsibility. There is no more room for self-interest, exploitation, or destruction.
