Economic Transition Program
The Economic Transition Program has already led to three results. The establishment of the commercial consultancy and subsidy agency Regenesys B.V. is a direct result of the numerous discussions that the directors Pauline Versteegh and Onno van der Kuip had in 2019 and 2020. The topic was mainly the possibility of securing subsidies more frequently for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises. This will accelerate future-proof transitions in business, which is the mission of Regenesys and the Het Kan Wel! foundation.
Regenesys, as a business consultancy and development agency, supports companies in accelerating future-proof transitions and forming the right partnerships. The vision of the Het Kan Wel! foundation is the starting point for every new assignment. Business in service of the future-proof economy.
Economic Ecosystem
Additionally, a partnership has been established with two Active Leading Partners.
A future-proof economy serves the natural and social ecosystems and is focused on a future-proof business model. This not only means no more harm to the natural and social ecosystems, but also a regeneration of the integral ecosystem. Ultimately, this will lead to a Tree of Life Economy.
In a future-proof economy, healthy business cases are important, but they are no longer the only criteria. Real value must be added to the integral ecosystem.
Too many companies and governments are guilty of greenwashing* and misleading well-meaning citizens. The goal of greenwashing is to cling to old business models that are harmful to us all.
Aside from being harmful to the natural ecosystem, this is also dangerous for the social ecosystem. It creates citizens who feel deceived, leading to distrust, polarization, and violence.
It is therefore in the interest of all governments, businesses—whether listed or not, family-owned companies, and small and medium-sized enterprises—to avoid greenwashing and policies that aim to preserve the old economic system at the expense of everyone and everything.
Greenwashing
Greenwashing is when the government, a company, or an organization pretends to be greener or more socially responsible than they actually are.
The only way to make the economy future-proof is through the timely transition to the Tree of Life Economy. This means a future-proof natural, social, and economic ecosystem that is fully balanced. This means that profit maximization and economic growth are no longer the starting points, but the sustainability of policies.
Encouraging people to consume more, producing disposable products, pollution, depletion of resources, and greenwashing are all incompatible with a future-proof economic system.
What can you do?
Everyone can contribute to the transition by taking personal responsibility when making choices. An example of this is choosing products that have a long life and can be repaired, opting for energy-efficient options, and selecting products that do no harm to the natural and social ecosystems.
We can also, as citizens, let businesses know that we want them to make the right choices in their business policies. In these times, companies listen more to customers’ wishes, especially when it comes to ecological choices.
Furthermore, it is important not to blindly believe what companies tell you about their sustainability policies. Something may be good when it comes to energy efficiency, but in practice, it could be terribly polluting or violate human rights through the production method.
Consumers have significant power and can guide companies in the right direction by making the right choices themselves and actively engaging with business policies.
Government Policy
The policy of the cabinet and the European Commission is based on the assumption that the existing economy must be maintained and that listed companies must be supported. There is insufficient technical knowledge. Legislators are therefore too dependent on parties that have their own interests in maintaining the existing economic system.
It is important that legislators and policymakers also gain substantive knowledge about the integral transition necessary to make the economic ecosystem future-proof. Het Kan Wel! foundation would like to contribute to this.
